Mrs. Burnett was born in Carrollton, Georgia, on October 14, 1931, the daughter of the late Edgar Akin and Ellen Baber Akin. She was a homemaker and member of Rotherwood Congregational Methodist Church in Whitesburg.
Survivors include her ex-husband, Carl S. Burnett of Whitesburg; son and daughter-in-law, Andy and Tricia Burnett of San Diego, California; grandchildren, Kevin Burnett, Ashley Burnett, Andrew Burnett; and sister, Syble Vaughn of Whitesburg.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Dale S. Burnett and Tony L. Burnett.
The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home on Saturday from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m.
Funeral services will be Sunday, December 2, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Almon Funeral Home.
A private interment will be in the Whitesburg Cemetery.
