He was retired from Georgia Power as a control room operator with 39 years of service, and was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Frankie Ann Ledford; daughter, Cindy Ann Ledford Yancey; brother, Dwight Ledford and a grandson, Tyler Helton.
Survivors include his wife, Marlene Sue Misner Ledford; children, Timothy (Marie) Ledford of Dacula, Ga., Debra (Rick) Jack of Leicester, N.C., Marty (Marcia) Helton of Sand Lake, Mich., and Jacquelyn (Daniel) LaFollette of Temple, Ga.; brothers: Richard Ledford of Carrollton, Carolyn (Glen) Argo of Whitesburg, Patricia (Jack) Proctor of Whitesburg; Z.B. (Betty) Ledford of Marietta; son-in-law, Kenny (Patty) Yancey; sister-in-law, Imogene Wright; grandchildren, Brandy Yancey, Joshua Jack, Lucas Jack, Stacie Tompkins, Matthew Helton, Katie Gitchel, Heidie Helton, Bret LaFollette, Zachary LaFollette, Emilee LaFollette, and Nicole Yancey; 17 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday from Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Bro. Douglas New and Bro. Shane Roberson officiating with family members Debra Jack, Lucas Jack and Shane Rivers sharing in the eulogy. Interment will follow in Carroll Memory Gardens with Gary Ledford presiding.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 7p.m.
