Mr. Ponder was born in Hall County, Ga., on Feb. 6, 1939, the son of the late T. J. Ponder and Nancy Roper Huckeba. He had worked as a pipe fitter with Daniel Construction Co. and was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Ester Fay Estep Ponder; daughter, Regina Wright of Carrollton; son, Ralph N. Ponder Jr. of Carrollton; brothers, Manard Ponder of Newnan, David Huckeba of Fruithurst, Ala., Charles Huckeba of Carrollton, Harold Huckeba of Carrollton, Randy Huckeba of Carrollton; sisters, Judy Crowder and Elizabeth Walker of Carrollton; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be Friday, Nov. 16, at 2 p.m. at Almon Funeral Home in Carrollton with Rev. Gerald Rogers officiating.
The family will receive friends Friday from 1 p.m. until service time.
