Gay Valentine Clem Bowman, 77, resident of 7909 Folly Lane, Columbia, S.C., wife of Richard M. Bowman died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at her home.
Born in San Antonio, Texas, on Feb. 14, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Bennie Elvester and Zelma Orine Hinton Clem. Gay lived most of her adult life throughout Georgia and California and returned to South Carolina 12 years ago. She loved animals and enjoyed symphonic and orchestra music.
Gay was preceded in death by a brother, Russel T. Clem.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, Dr. Barry Wilson and wife, Patricia of Columbia, S.C.; granddaughter, Elizabeth “Liz” Ross and husband Brandon, also of Columbia; sister-in-law, Bobbie Boyd Clem of Greenwood, S.C.; niece, Lisa Clem Latham and husband, Terry, also of Greenwood; and nephew, W. Russel “Rusty” Clem and wife, Michele of Loveland, Ohio.
Graveside services were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at Tranquil United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Hal Lane officiating.

Buck Brown
Mr. George Edward “Buck” Brown, 90, of Waco, Ga., passed away Nov. 9, 2012. Mr. Brown was born Sept. 23, 1922, in Tallapoosa, Ga., to the late Carlton John and Willie Mann Brown.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Brown; sisters and brother-in-law, Velma Brown and Dorothy and Willis Hallman; and brothers, C.J. and Etta Brown and Don and Lola Brown.
Mr. Brown and his wife, Rachel were married 66 years on July 4, 2012. Buck served in the U. S. Army in World War II from December 1943 until October 1945. He was a field lineman and ammunition handler. His tour of duty included Normandy, Northern France, Europe, and Halifax, Canada.
Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Rachel Wright Brown of Waco; daughter, Patricia Wright of Waco; sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Diwanda Brown and Michael and Dawn Brown, all of Waco; grandchildren, Vonda Fennell, Darrell Wright, and Jarrod Brown; great-grandchildren, Austin Wright, Logan Smith, Brayden Wilson and Connor Fennell; and sisters, Mae Jo Gentry and Virginia Laminack, both of Tallapoosa, Ga.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Nov. 12, at the Miller Funeral Home Chapel with Teresa Harris and Tommy Harris officiating. Music was provided by Jason and Megan Hatchett. Pallbearers serving were Richard Gentry, Darrell Wright, Austin Wright, Steve Wright, Brayden Wilson and Logan Smith. Honorary pallbearers were Jarrod Brown and Connor Fennell.
Interment followed in Waco Cemetery with Haralson County Veterans Association providing military honors.

Shirley Jo Browning
Shirley Jo Hunt Browning of Buchanan, passed away Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, in a local hospital. She was born in Cleburne County, Ala., on Jan. 1, 1942, daughter of the late Joseph Hunt and Addie Buttram Hunt.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Browning, and a brother, Johnny Hunt.
Survivors include her husband, Jack Browning of Buchanan; children, Debbie and Mike Benefield of Buchanan, Tammy and Chuck Thompson of Bremen, Mitchell and Debbie Browning of Buchanan; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Dennis Gray of Bremen, Judy and Charles Partridge of Bremen; brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Pat Hunt of Buchanan; grandchildren, Brandon Benefield of Buchanan, Hannah and Joseph Mullins of Bremen, Whitney Thompson and Erica Thompson, both of Bremen, Matthew Browning of Athens, Brittany Browning of Buchanan; and six great-grandchildren.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, at the chapel of Hightower Funeral Home with the Revs. Thomas Ward and Mike Benefield officiating. Brandon Benefield, Matthew Browning, Andrew Partridge, Joey Hunt, Joe Mullins and Steve Weaver served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Dennis Gray, Charles Partridge, Will Garner, Chad Eastling, Jeffery Marlow, Glenn Dennis, Carey Worthy and Tony Albright. Interment followed in Buchanan City Cemetery with Elder Charles Partridge and Minister Chad Dollahite officiating. Doves were released at the graveside service.

Leroy Robinson
Leroy Robinson of Waco died Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at his residence following an extended illness. He was born in Carroll County, May 18, 1930, son of the late Harvey L. Robinson and Myrtie Mae Pettit Robinson.
Mr. Robinson was a member of the Carpenter’s Local 225 and a 60-year member of the Masonic Order 683, Kansas Lodge. He retired from the construction business in 1991 after 35 years. Mr. Robinson served as mayor of the city of Waco for 12 years and as city councilman for eight years. He was a member of Five Points Baptist Church in Carroll County and a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Maggie Webb, Jerlean Prater; brothers, John M. Robinson, Jelp H. Robinson and Hugh W. Robinson.
Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline “Jackie” Johnson Robinson of Waco; children, Debra and Jim Griffith of Macon, Randy and Dianne Robinson of Stockbridge, Marty and Linda Robinson of Carrollton, Donna and Rich Chambers of Waco, Danny and Suzanne Robinson of Bremen; sister, Gladys Evelyn Casey of Waco; brother, James Olin Robinson of Bowdon; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, at the chapel of Hightower Funeral Home with the Revs. Jason Hatchett and Ricky Shadrix officiating.
