Connie A. Summer Morrison of Buchanan died Friday, Nov. 2, 2012. She was born in Hall County, Dec. 16, 1946, daughter of the late William H. Summer and Arlene E. Lawson Summer.
Mrs. Morrison was a retired school bus driver for the Cobb County School System and a member of Mount Holly Church.
Survivors include her husband, Bobby Hugh Morrison of Buchanan; sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Leslie Morrison of Dallas, Shannon Lee and Deanna Morrison of Buchanan; five grandchildren; a sister, Renee Ulch, Marietta; brothers, William Summer Jr. of Woodstock and Bruce Summer of Cartersville.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, at Hightower Funeral Home in Bremen with Bishop Evette Guyton, the Rev. Bobby Therrell, JoAnna Jenkins and Denita Bobo officiating. Music was by Stephen Morrison and JoBeth Copeland. Burial followed in Tallapoosa East Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mary Jackson Shealy, 70, of Waco died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Nov. 6, at Hutcheson’s Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Alton Stamey officiating. Burial was in Hollywood Cemetery Tallapoosa.

Jewell W. Singleton, 86, of Temple, died Oct. 29, 2012.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, at Edgefield Baptist Church in Temple with pastor Lyman Barnes officiating.
The body was cremated.

Donald Sumlar
Donald James Sumlar, 77, of Buchanan died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012. Mr. Sumlar was born in Polk County on July 7, 1935, the son of the late Jude Sumlar and the late Edna Evett Sumlar.
Mr. Sumlar retired as a supervisor with Goodyear in Rockmart.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Geneva; one sister, Nora Lee Pugh; and one great-grandchild, Jacob Rice.
Survivors include his wife, Ruthie Ellen Harrison Sumlar of Buchanan; one son, Michael Sumlar of Buchanan; two step-daughters and one step-son-in-law, Joy Lee and Joe Brown of Silver Creek and Julie Lee Beck of Cedartown; step-son and step-daughter-in-law, Warren and Ellen Lee of Cedartown; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Harvey Smith of Taylorsville; six grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, at Hutcheson’s Memorial Chapel with the Revs. Ralph Ploof, Howard Locklear and Charles Sutton officiating. Music was rendered by Irma and David Chafin and Kathy Akers. Interment followed in Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Kenneth Smith, Scottie Smith, C.W. Ploof, Tony Norris, Joe Brown and Warren Lee. Honorary pallbearers were Roy Worthy, Bobby Clark, Tim Deems and Dean Akers.

H.G. Denman
Mr. “H.G.” Harris G. Denman, 92, of Hudson Drive, Bremen, passed away Oct. 29, 2012.
Mr. Denman was born on Dec. 3, 1919, in Tallahatchie County, Miss., the son of the late James Denman and Nellie Harris Denman.
He was a retired Truck Driver of Yellow Freight, a Veteran of the U. S. Army and a member of Bremen Masonic Lodge No. 456.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Betty Reece Denman of Bremen; daughter, Louise Schealy of Rochester, Wash.; son, Bill Layton of Redmond, Ore.; brother, Earl Denman of Mississippi; two special nieces, Myra McDow and Edith Cash; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at the Chapel of Hightower Funeral Home with the Rev. Ricky Shirley officiating.
Interment followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

John Hull
Mr. John Wesley Hull, 65, of Buchanan passed away Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012. Mr. Hull was born in Smamokin, Pa., on Feb. 20, 1947. He was the son of the late John Edward Hull and the late Lorraine Shaffer Masinos. Mr. Hull was retired from Arrow Shirt Company, where he was the southeast region technical manager.
Survivors include his wife, Connie Payton Hull of Buchanan; two daughters and one son-in-law, Kim and Mike Earl of Douglasville and Heather Green of Carrollton; two sons, Dustin Hull of Douglasville and Joshua Green of Buchanan; three sisters, Bernidine Minnier of Marietta, Lorraine Figueroa of Sunbury, Pa., and Jeanne Balonis of Virginia; four grandchildren, Ambery Earl, Kelsey Earl, Juleigh Green and Even Barclay; and a number of other relatives.
Memorial services were conducted at noon Tuesday, Nov. 6, at West Georgia Worship Center with Brother Ricky Shirley officiating.

Louise Ward
Louise Steed Ward of Bremen passed away Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, in a local hospital following an extended illness. She was born in Floyd County, Nov. 5, 1926, daughter of the late Burley Calvin Steed and Mary Ruth House Steed. Mrs. Ward was a 35-year employee of the Smith Builder’s Supply, where worked as secretary and was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Bremen.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett F. Ward.
Survivors include a daughter, Jan Ward of Bremen; a son and daughter-in-law, Harlan and Gale Ward, Bremen; brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Ann Steed of Cave Spring; grandsons and spouses, Daniel and April Ward, Tommy and Kathy Ward and Chad Lee; and great-grandchildren, Cody Ward, Kaleb Ward, Jayden Ward and Matthew Huckeba.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, at the chapel of Hightower Funeral Home with Dr. Allen Wilburn and Dr. J. Howard Mills officiating. Music was furnished by the Garner Family and Harold McWhorter. The following gentlemen served as pallbearers; Tommy Ward, Daniel Ward, Danny Nixon, Stanley Steed, Kenneth Ward and Cody Ward. Interment followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Alfred Wright
Alfred William Wright, of Tallapoosa, Ga., passed away at his home on Riverside Road, Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 30, 2012, at the age of 79. He was born in Tallapoosa, Dec. 30, 1932, to the Rev. Taylor and Lottie Wright.
He served in the U. S. Navy from 1952-56 during the Korean War. He married Villa Dean Clark, also of Tallapoosa, Sept. 12, 1958. They were married for 54 years until death separated them. He was a descendent of many of the first pioneers in West Georgia, including the names: Rowell, Brown, Philpot, Eaves, McAdams, Anthony and York.
Mr. Wright was most known in West Georgia as a businessman. He owned and operated Wright’s Army Store in Tallapoosa for 40 years, from 1964-2004. He began his business by selling Army Surplus door-to-door from the back of his pickup truck. Prior to starting his business, he worked at Republic Steel Company in Gadsden, Ala.
He was a devoted Christian and church leader, at various times serving as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Director, Chorister, and Deacon Emeritus. He was a member of Riverside Baptist Church in Tallapoosa and had also been a member of West View Baptist Church in Tallapoosa. In recent years, he attended Midway Macedonia Baptist Church in Villa Rica, where his son is the pastor.
He loved being at home with his family, and he loved the Riverside community. He died within 2 miles from where he was born and less than 100 yards form where he attended school in the first grade. He traveled around the world, but in his own words, “there’s no place like home.”
In addition to his parents, Mr. Wright was preceded in death by his brother, Lloyd Wright; sister, Alma Bowman; sister, Idell Cobb; and son-Richie Wright.
He is survived by his wife, Dean Wright; son, Alan Wright of Tallapoosa; son, Todd and Lisa Wright of Roopville; and son, Brad Wright of Buford. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Shannon and Lin Clayton, Lauren and Jay Rogers, Adam and Lauren Wright, Michael Pistor, Will Wright, Ashley Wright (Steve Sailors), Zachary Wright, Hannah and Nick Neely, Olivia and Brian Long, Brandon and Christin Wright, Holly Wright and Savannah Wright; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends as a man of honesty, integrity, determination, devotion to hard work, and humor.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, at Riverside Baptist Church with his son, the Rev. Todd Wright, officiating. He was to lie in state from 1 to 2 p.m. Pallbearers serving were grandsons, Adam Wright, Brandon Wright, Will Wright, Michael Pistor, Brian Long, Nick Neely, Jay Rogers and Steve Sailors.
Interment followed in Riverside Church Cemetery with the Rev. Buddy Gentry officiating and Haralson County Veterans Association providing military honors.
