While the first official game of the season is over a week the University of West Georgia men's basketball team traveled to Jacksonville State on Monday night for an exhibition game.

The Wolves dropped the contest 72-56, but got a look at some of the new faces that will try to return to the NCAA tournament.

After trailing 37-23 at halftime UWG started its comeback and pulled to within seven points midway through the half, but wouldn't have enough to close the gap any more.

Freshman Deontre Brown led all Wolves with 17 points while Taylor Cochran (11) and Brett Seljak (10) also scored in double figures.

West Georgia hit 6-of-18 from three-point range in the contest, led by Cochran, who was 2-of-5 and Zach Taulien, who was 2-for-4 with eight points in the contest. Sophomore Thomas Higginbotham had six points, five rebounds and five assists on the night.

The season will officially open on Nov. 16 as Miles will travel to The Coliseum for the Gulf South/Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Challenge at 7:30 p.m.
