Mr. Boyd was born Oct. 3, 1926, in the Flat Rock Community, the son of the late Elbert Clinton Boyd and Mary Flurnoy Boyd. He was a retired Staff Sergeant, having served in the Army and the Air Force for more than 20 years. Mr. Boyd was also a retired truck driver, self-employed owner/operator for North American Van Lines. He was a Mason belonging to Villa Rica Lodge No. 72 F&AM and was a member of Concord Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Georgia Holloman Boyd; son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Marcia Boyd of Jasper, Ga., daughter and son-in-law, Gwen and Pat Skinner of Villa Rica; grandchildren, Shannon and John Smith of Villa Rica, Shane and Jennifer Sauls of Villa Rica, Lindsey and Andrew Champion of Ball Ground, Ga., Betsy Skinner of Albany, Ga., Pate and Alyson Boyd of Canton, Seth and Jenna Boyd of Jasper, Paul Skinner of Villa Rica; great-grandchildren, Hunter Smith of Villa Rica, Noah Smith of Villa Rica, Belle, Zoe and Trott Sauls, all of Villa Rica, Brooklyn Castill of Villa Rica, Andie Grace Champion of Ball Ground, Matthew Boyd, Canton, and Eli Eubanks of Jasper.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ann Sauls, and his two brothers, Virlyn and Grady Boyd.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, at Concord Baptist Church with the Revs. Don Rackley and Tony Boyd, son of Mr. Boyd, officiating.
Serving as an Honorary Escort will be Pate Boyd, Seth Boyd, Drew Champion, John, Smith, Paul Skinner, Shane Sauls, Hunter Smith, Noah Smith, Trott Sauls and Matthew Boyd.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. at Concord Baptist Church..
