Advance voting for the Nov. 6 general election will come to an end at 6 p.m. today, Nov. 2, with more than a quarter of all qualified Carroll County voters having already cast their ballots.

Voting will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. today at both the county elections office on College Street in Carrollton, and Powell Park Art Center, 524 Leslie Drive, Villa Rica. No voting of any kind will be held on Saturday or Monday.

“Absentee ballot application requests must be received by 3 p.m. Friday (today) to ensure delivery,” said Carroll County Elections Supervisor Becky Deese. “Any applications received after that time will be rejected. The applications can be faxed to 770-214-3594.”

At the end of voting Thursday, 17,110 votes had been cast since advance voting opened on Oct. 15. That is 28.77 percent of Carroll County’s 59,302 registered voters. She said voter turnout slowed somewhat on Wednesday and Thursday, possibly due to cold weather, but predicted larger numbers would turn out on this final day of advance voting.

In the Carrollton office Thursday, 1,017 voters cast ballots, while 691 voted in Villa Rica.

Voters should go to the Georgia Secretary of State website, under MVP (my voter page), www.sos.ga.gov/mvp, to confirm that they are registered and learn at which precinct to vote next Tuesday.

“Before going to the polls, any voter who has not voted in several years should verify that his/her name has not been removed from the register,” she said.

Deese emphasized that all voting next Tuesday must be at voters’ designated precincts and no voting will be held in the elections office. She said polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at all precincts.
