Gordy Wright, public information officer for the Georgia State Patrol, said that Briant Anthony Payne, 36, was killed after his 2002 Dodge Stratus left the roadway and overturned multiple times around 12:35 a.m. Sunday. The vehicle was traveling eastbound on Highway 166, just east of Jones Mill Road.
Payne’s passenger, 33-year-old Shontez Larone Farmer, also from Carrollton, was airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center with a head injury.
The fatality report reads that Payne was wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident, but it does not say whether Farmer was wearing his.
