Mr. Fred Wilburn Wix, 86, of Villa Rica, Ga., passed away, Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at his residence following an extended illness. He was born Oct. 2, 1926, in Villa Rica, Ga., the son of the late Theodore Rosevelt Wix and the late Grace Bentley Wix.

He retired from Jeans Hosiery Mill where he was a fixer. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U. S. Navy.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Aline Tidwell Wix; nephew he raised as his son, Brad Newman; and special great-nephew, Scottie Wayne Newman.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Susan Wix of Villa Rica; grandson, Brandon Seals Wix of Villa Rica; sister, Nancy Wix of Villa Rica; brother, Joel Wix Sr. of Villa Rica; special nephew, he raised as a son and his wife, Randy and Crys Newman of Villa Rica; two nephews, Wade and his wife, Janice Sudduth of Villa Rica, Joel Wix Jr. of Villa Rica; special niece, Deborah Newman Cole of Cartersville; great-nieces and nephews, Kelly Newman Pope of Villa Rica, Phillip Newman of Villa Rica, Shelly Newman Tant and Jeffery Tant of Cartersville, and a umber of great-great nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, and from 9 a.m. until the funeral hour Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with the Rev. Eddie Allen officiating. Interment will follow in the Melrose Hills Memorial Gardens.
