Lady Wildcats post top 10 finish

The Villa Rica High School cross country team also competed at the Asics Invitational at the McIntosh Nature Preserve in Whitesburg on Saturday with the girls team coming in 10th in the AAAAA-AAAAAA race.

Leading the way for the Lady Wildcats was Abbigayle Mathis with a time of 20 minutes and 29.18 seconds in 17th place overall. Haley Parham (21:17.64), Miranda Brown (21:57.22), Melissa Conchas (22:20.34) and Angerika Colbert (22:44.31) were the four other runners to score in the team race.

On the boys side it was Deandre Dixon with the top VR finish at 17 minutes and 49.41 seconds. Cody Federer (18:40.07), Rodney Hill (18:57.83), Sean Teters (19:38.99) and Chandler Hetrick (20:32.81) rounded out the scoring Wildcat runners.

Both Wildcat teams will compete at Thursday’s Carroll County Championships at Carrollton at 5 p.m.
