Funeral services for Wendell “Duck” White, age 69, of Ranburne will be held Saturday, October 6, 2012, at 2 p.m. from Old Hopewell Baptist Church with Rev. Lewis Cushion and Rev. Lanice White officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.

The body will be placed at the church two hours prior to the service.

Mr. White passed away Thursday, October 4, 2012, at his residence.

Mr. White is survived by his two daughters, Donna Akins of Woodland and Misty (Chad) Loveless of Mt. Zion, Ga.; a special friend, Letha Sheppard of Wedowee; one sister, Mildred Whitman of Ranburne; one brother, Burl White of Roopville, Ga.; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Larry Wayne Nicholson, Terry White, Harold Hembree, Andy Sheppard, Don Sheppard, Danny Deese and Richard White.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Junior, Jimbo Thompson, Bob Cason, Dale Pollard, Stanley Hudgins, Danny Taylor, Kenny Taylor and Amedisys Hospice.

Mr. White was born April 8, 1943, the son of William Bill and Polly Ann Benefield White. He was retired from Douglas- Lomasson as a hoist line operator. He was a Baptist by faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Amanda Joan White; five brothers, Kirby, Harold, Horace, Curtis and Gene White.

The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home-Wedowee on Friday, October 5, 2012, from 5 to 8 p.m.
