In the final non-region game of the regular season, the Central High School football team dropped a 7-6 contest at Pike County on Friday night in Zebulon.

With the score 7-6 at halftime, neither team was able to put any more points on the board, but the Pirates (2-2) were able to hold on for the win.

The Lions (3-2, 2-0 Region 4-AAA) return to region play next week when they host B.E.S.T. Academy at Roy Richards Memorial Stadium.

Central coach Grant Chesnut could not be reached for comment as of press time Friday evening.

This is a tough loss for the Lions however in this day and age I feel there is no excuse for the coach not to call in with his comments. Win lose or draw be a good sport. May be they had no service for cell phones on the ride back.

Get back to work guys the new season starts now.
