The number of restaurants and other food providers for tonight’s Taste of Carrollton has grown to 42. So, from cupcakes to pizza, burritos to burgers, Asian to barbecue, just about every type of cuisine offered in town will be represented.

The 27th annual Taste on Adamson Square will debut its Food & Brew Package. For $20, visitors can purchase the “FAB” package and receive a wristband, a commemorative cup, and five complimentary food tickets. On tap craft beer samplings are available to those who have purchased this package. Beer samples will be provided by Red Hare Brewing Company and Monday Night Brewing.

“These specialty craft beers are unlike anything you can currently taste downtown and we think that this package will be extra delicious,” said Jessica Reynolds, director of Carrollton Main Street.

Those who want to buy the package today must do at the event — online sales ended Wednesday.

Food tickets, however, can be bought today at Horton’s Bookstore, Elle Salon, Merle Norman, The Squire Shop and The Nest, or tonight at the event. Visitors to Taste can purchase tickets to exchange for their bite-sized “tastes” from each restaurant. Tickets are valued at $1 apiece and can be purchased with cash or credit cards.

Tonight’s Taste will feature a performance from country music artist and former Carrollton resident Bill Gentry.

Taste of Carrollton is a fundraiser for the Carrollton Main Street Program. Past years events have helped fund projects such as the new downtown Carrollton signs, the directional signage on Adamson Square, the redesign of Main Street’s new website and the creation of Main Street’s iPhone app. This year funds raised from the Taste of Carrollton will help to restart the Downtown Facade Grant Program. Due to budgetary constraints, this program was cut on 2010.

“During the past 15 years, these grants have revitalized downtown store fronts; preserving our historic standards while maintaining the charm and integrity of Adamson Square,” Reynolds said.

The event also serves as a benefit to the participating restaurants, which get the opportunity for exposure and the chance to win over new customers.

Taste of Carrollton will begin at 5:30 p.m. and conclude at 8 p.m.
