Mr. Simpkins was born in LaGrange, Georgia, on September 17, 1951, the son of the late Zack Simpkins and Nora Mackey Simpkins. He had worked at US Can, now Ball Corporation, in Tallapoosa as a forklift operator.
Survivors include his wife, Teresa M. Simpkins; sons and daughters-in-law, Todd and Aidan Simpkins of Whitesburg, Adam and Marci Simpkins of Newnan; grandchildren, Rileigh, Kalynn, Preston, Andrew, and James; sisters, Faye Louis of Carrollton, Priscilla Wegner of Carrollton; brothers, Byron Simpkins of Heflin, Alabama.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
The family received friends at Almon Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, September 15, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Almon Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Cody Gilder, Mike Mayo, Chris Roberts, Jim Chambers, Josh Chambers and Stuart Burson. Interment will be in Carroll Memory Gardens.
