John Melvyn Campbell, age 71, of Newnan passed away Monday, September 10, 2012, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital. He was born in Atlanta on December 22, 1940, to the late John B. and Lucille Leftwich Campbell.

He was a retired civil engineer and served in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Campbell is survived by his wife, June Kelley Campbell of Newnan; children, John H. and Manda Campbell of Temple, Ga., and Marla R. Campbell of Duluth, Ga.; step-children, Paul and Leanne DeFoor of Temple, Ga., and David Eskew and Melissa Rabold of Newnan, Ga., Dan and Latisha Siggers of Bay Minette, Ala.; sisters, Marlene and Pete Sims of Litchfield Park, Ariz., and Martha Bradshaw of Oxford, Ga.; 14 grandchildren; nieces and nephews, and his faithful canine companion, Buster.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 13, 2012, at 2 pm in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home. Rev. Ken Norton will officiate. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation was Wednesday, September 12, 2012, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home.
