She was born Aug. 27, 1935, in Harpersville, Ala., the daughter of the late Levi Barber and the late Beulah Sherbert Barber. She was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Olean Grady Meherg; daughter, Rita Faye Meherg; granddaughter, Tammy Jean Mayfield; and a number of brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Ester and Jack Cape of Villa Rica, Rick Meherg of Villa Rica, Travis and Zelma Meherg of Sand Hill, Johnny Meherg of Villa Rica, Rhonda Milner of Tallapoosa and Olean Junior “Buck” and Tina Meherg of Sand Hill; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Byrd and Pastor Mike Adams officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Gethsemane at Meadowbrook Memory Gardens. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Trey Murray, David Meherg, Jason Meherg, Dan Meherg, C.J. Milner and Ronald Dunn.
