Mr. Charles Grady Dorough, 84, of Villa Rica passed away Monday, Aug. 6, 2012. He was born Jan. 23, 1928, in Carroll County the son of the late Mr. Edmund Walter and Mrs. Florence Taylor Dorough.
He was a carpenter by trade. Charles was ahead of his time with his creative ideas, much like his father who built the historic Round Barn of Hickory Level. He loved fishing, hunting and camping. Mr. Dorough and his wife were members of Midway Church of Villa Rica.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Virginia Hembree Dorough; four brothers; and three sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Ina Jane Cosby Dorough of Villa Rica; daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Kelly McCord of Villa Rica, Charlotte and Toby Hall of Villa Rica; sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Dianne Dorough of Villa Rica, Jeff and Sharon Dorough of Carrollton; step-son, Tim and Pam Jordon of Lumpkin; step-daughters, Cindy Thompson of Buford, Paula and Randy Thompson of Hiram and Monica and Joe Dau of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandchildren, Brandon Hall, Shane Hall, Josh and Crystal McCord, and Julia Dorough; step-grandchildren, Shannon and Sonya Thompson, Brandon and Tiffany Thompson, Kristy and Joey Hulsey, Cameron and Christy Thompson, Ashley Jordan, Maddie and Matthew Dau; five great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica with the Rev. Todd Wright officiating. Interment will follow at Glenn Memorial Gardens.

Kathleen Jackson
Mrs. Kathleen K. Jackson, 91, of Carrollton, Ga., passed away on Aug 5, 2012, after a brief illness. Mrs. Jackson was born on Oct. 19, 1920, the daughter of Dan Knight and Cora Mae Cockrell Knight and loving stepmother Leslie Cunningham Knight.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Bovene Holder and Pebble Brimer; and brother, Bayron Ray Knight. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Travis Jackson; children, Susan Jackson of Houston, Texas, and Clay Jackson of Villa Rica, Ga.; half sister, Dorothy Brooke of White, Ga.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Kathleen grew up in the farming community of Ophelia where her family, Mt. Prospect Baptist Church, and the local school were the center of her life. Her love of education led her to become a teacher impacting many, many children in the Carrollton area. Kathleen attended Jacksonville State University in Alabama and graduated from West Georgia College in Carrollton. She taught for five years in Lineville, Ala., then moved to Carrollton, where she taught at Maple St. Elementary, College St. Elementary and Oak Mt. Academy. Upon retirement after 42 years of teaching, Kathleen became very active in the Civic Woman’s Club, where she headed many beautification and environmental projects, was an avid bridge player and was a member of the Retired Teachers Association. Kathleen loved to travel across the United States with her family. She was a member of the Grace Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church and the congregations of both First Baptist and Trinity Baptist Church will miss her warm spirit.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, at the chapel of Almon Funeral Home with Dr. Steve Davis, the Rev. Lanny Reich and Mr. Doug Vassey officiating.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Driver, Don Sharp, Nelson Dobbs, Dan Holder, Wayne Holder, Bill Marler, John Stalling and John T. Lewis.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Mrs. Barbara Ann Powers, 78, of Carrollton, Ga., passed away Monday, Aug. 6, 2012. She was born Dec. 20, 1933, in Carroll County, Ga., the daughter of the late Mack Beavers and Julia Ann Bailey Beavers.
Mrs. Powers retired as secretary having worked for Atlanta Dairies for over 30 years, and she was a member of Old Camp United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Powers; infant daughter, Patty Ann Powers; infant son, Phillip Beaver Powers; and a brother, Ned Beavers.
Survivors include her son and daughter in law, Kim and Cindy Powers of Carrollton; sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Ed Picone of Carrollton; brother and sister in law, Ted and Sandra Beavers of Carrollton; grandchildren, Brooke and Andy Johnson, Kristen and Matthew Huckeba and Bryn Powers; and three great-grandchildren.

John Henry Stilley
Mr. John Henry Stilley, 94, of Greensboro, N.C., passed away Aug. 6, 2012, at Thomasville Medical Center.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Guilford Memorial Park with Dr. Adam Ward officiating.
Mr. Stilley was born April 27, 1918, in Alamance County, to the late John William and Julia Rominger Stilley. He was a member of Glenwood Friends Meeting and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his daughter, Rachel Tolson (Michael) of Thomasville, N.C.: his son, Ricky Stilley (Brenda) of Carrollton, Ga.; his three grandchildren, Dr. Adam Ward of Charlotte, N.C., Bryan Tolson of Thomasville, N.C. and Matthew Stilley of Carrollton, Ga.; and four great-grandchildren, Simone, Christian and Perry Tolson and Ben Ward.

Carolyn Davis Wingo of Bremen passed away Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at her residence. She was born in Haralson County, Aug. 21, 1946, daughter of the late Clifford Davis and Ruby Carden Davis.
Mrs. Wingo was a retired supervisor for Sewell Manufacturing Company.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Millard Wingo; a sister, Martha Nell Parker; two brothers, C.L. “Buster” Davis and Walter “Mac” Davis.
