At least five local stores were the victims of shoplifting misdemeanors over the weekend.

Brittany Groce, 23, of Carrollton, was arrested Friday after allegedly taking $95 worth of bathing suits from Target in Carrollton. Chris Dobbs, captain of Carrollton Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division, said Groce is suspected of other thefts from Target, and that police are looking at surveillance tapes to verify her involvement.

Walmart was the victim of two shoplifting incidents, both occurring Saturday.

Shontell Zachary, 33, of Carrollton, allegedly took $52 worth of women's clothing, swimsuits and Father's Day cards from Walmart.

Kala Coger, 17, of Oxford, Ala., allegedly took $36 worth of cat collars and makeup kits from the store.

Cathy Webb, 52, of Carrollton was arrested for shoplifting Sunday after allegedly taking $40 worth of meat from Food Depot on Bankhead Highway. Webb allegedly took six packs of meat.

The Dollar General on Maple Street was also a victim when Marilyn Almon, 58, of Carrollton, attempted to leave the store with $30 worth of men's tank tops, socks and shirts Saturday.

Outside the city limits, Carroll County Sheriff's Office apprehended Woodland, Ala., resident Crystal Norris, 29, after she allegedly attempted to shoplift from a Dollar General in Roopville. Deputies responded to the store Friday night, where Norris allegedly tried to walk out with $66 worth of items. According to reports, Norris told officers and the store management that there was a truck waiting outside to take her home after she stole the items, but the truck had driven off.
