Raymond Charles Askew, age 60, of Newnan, Georgia, died Tuesday, May 8, 2012.

Mr. Askew was born June 30, 1951, in Carrollton, Ga., the son of the late Sammy TJ Askew and Jessie Mae Mason Askew. He graduated from Central High School of Carrollton and following graduation he attended West Georgia College. Mr. Askew was a veteran of the United State Army and was self-employed in the construction and landscape business. Mr Askew was a member of Faith Tabernacle Church where he served as a deacon and trustee.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father, James Ridley.

Survivors include children, Charles Bernard and Tracy Lathon of Valdosta, Veronica Genene Reddish of Carrollton, Carlos Rodriquez Askew, Tyrell Harris and Tyree Harris, all of Newnan; sisters and brothers-in-law, Alice and Jimmy Hill, Mary and James Brown and Juanita Askew Boyd; brothers and sister-in-law, Aubrey and Tammy Askew and David Lee Askew, all of Newnan; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Monday, May 14, at 1 p.m. at Place of Refuge Church in Newnan with Rev. Leonard Cochran officiating. Burial will follow in Clem Cemetery.
