The West Georgia Technical College baseball team suffered an 11-5 setback to Gordon College on Friday afternoon, as the Highlanders used a six-run fourth inning to roll the victory.

The Golden Knights (18-30, 9-17) scored four runs in the first inning to take a 4-2 lead, but were unable to withstand the hot bats of the Gordon hitters. The Highlanders (24-21, 14-12) scored two in the third inning to tie the game 4-4 before their six-run outburst in the fourth.

Gordon scored all six runs with two outs, as it hit six consecutive two-out singles.

“We just got beat [Friday],” WGTC coach Todd Pratt said. “There isn’t more that you can say. We had a rough inning, which kind of set the tone and we didn’t recover.”

Eric Bowers had a big day at the plate for WGTC, going 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI. Dusty Davis (2-for-5) and Rus Morman (2-for-5, RBI) also collected multiple hits for the Knights.

WGTC returns to action today in a 2:05 p.m. doubleheader against Gordon in Douglasville.
