• To those of you using Bonner Road as a short cut to Hay’s Mill, the clearly posted speed limit is 35 mph. There are 15 houses and two subdivisions using this area of Bonner Road, so please slow down and drive the speed limit before there is a tragic accident.

•Isn’t it funny how money can be found to build a new football complex with a retractable roof in Atlanta, but the state gurus keep cutting the public education budget. That’s called priority setting! Let’s see how supportive our legislators and state leaders are on the stadium project.

• Wouldn’t it be great if seating-only sections were provided at concerts? A retired UWG professor and I, a 1970 alumnus of UWG, attended The Band Perry concert as part of my 64th birthday celebration. What a disappointment and waste of $50! Students stood continuously, blocking our view.

• We’ve seen much publicity about the water works bobcat recently. This is a wild animal that is not acting normal and may be rabid! It would usually be out killing little birds and rabbits, not staying in an area that has human scent. Put it out of its misery and save the lives of many small animals and birds, and possibly even a human life.

• Why is the Georgia smoking ban not enforced in the outside seating areas of Carrollton restaurants that allow kids under 18, as is the law?

One thought for Ashley Hendrix' latest theatrical masterpiece of errors: WOW! Every quote of hers appears to be complete gossip and rumor rubbish with few if any facts. These conjectures of hers do one GREAT disservice to all of the Carroll citizens by opening the courtroom door and for what purpose? Since she likes to spread rumors here's a few rumors ive heard. 1. Hendrix never once visited E911 about the CAD system before during or after this event in 4 yrs 2. Hendrix to date has never spoken with the E911 director seeking knowledge about the system she voted upon even after it was tabled for this purpose 3. Hendrix plainly states she has no direct knowledge regarding the specific incident such as the actual call recording, the actual screen typing, what the CAD system presents to the dispatcher for confirmation or even the personnel file or outcome regarding the dispatcher all of witch are kept as required by law. She has just a "gut feeling" as she says, “I don’t even know his name, and I’m not sure enough to say what his condition was and why an ambulance was called.” Well her gut is giving all of Carroll County a belly ache! Shouldn't elected officials deal in facts and verify information before opening their mouth and spewing garbage such as this. I'm sorry, she can perform but she doesn't have that professional legislative trait that gives me a sense of confidence at all! WOW! Way to go Ashley....what was the point?? Get your name on the front page?

To the local candidates who feel it necessary to put up your large 4' election signs at the entrance of our subdivision at Country Lake Estates, you will not be receiving my vote. Our entrance is on Highway 113, and your signs make it difficult to see oncoming traffic, plus it is just bad taste, all the other candidates placed small yard signs. To Tommy Lee, a resident of our subdivision and candidate for county commissioner, you have my vote just for having enough common sense not to place a large sign where it obviously should not be!!!!

To the person who left a 2 1/2 week old puppy in the trash can behind Quiktrip in Villa Rica, shame on you. How could you leave a puppy like that? Did you know you could go to jail? Do you have such disregard for life that you could do that? You are cruel and I hope they catch you. I feel for your children. Have you left any of them in trash cans somewhere along the way?

There was a 64 year old rabid cat standing up and smoking cigarettes at a concert on Bonner Rd.?

...hey other repliers, stop reading into or nit-picking everything!!!

- slow down on Bonner Rd.

- I suspect that the roof might be paid (at least mostly) by private funds vs. state?...if not, I concur with your assessment.

- give the older (and handicapped/wheelchair) folks a place to sit down...not everyone wants to stand and dance - there is plenty of space for everybody.

- if the cat is rabid then put it down...if not, leave it alone.

- smokers are smelly butt-suckers. here's some news for those of you that smoke...1. you smell bad 2. you look unattractive when you smoke. 3. you are killing yourself. you may not think you smell, but you do - your breathe stinks, your clothes stink and eventhough you can't smell it, others can. smoking should be banned in all public places. I'm not for making it illegal...i guess if stupid people want to smell bad and kill themselves, then they should have the right to be stupid.

To the two that went to the concert, with all do respect (and no I'm not a young whipper snapper) if you just want to sit and watch a concert then you should save your money and watch from the comfort of your home with surround sound. I expect a band to draw me to my feet otherwise I feel like I've wasted my money, do I stand the whole time no but I'm older than college kids so I can't keep up. If I go to a general admission concert (which I rarely do) I go early enough to choose a seat where I can still see if my feet get the best of me and I choose to sit down :)

I must point out the inaccuracy in a couple of your statements. First the bobcat is NOT acting abnormal as DNR said she is more than likely a mother searching for food for babies. My job requires knowledge of rabies and the handling of suspected rabid animals and I can assure you this cat is not exhibiting signs of rabies. My job also requires knowledge of the Georgia Smokefree Act of 2005 and it does not pertain to outdoor areas only to certain "enclosed" areas and areas designated nonsmoking by the owner. Thus the cat is probably not rabid and it is not illegal to smoke outdoors at a restaurant unless otherwise stated by the owner.
