Billy Hanks, 70, of Lovvorn Road, Carrollton died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012. He was born April 1, 1941, in Georgiana, Ala., the son of the late Presley Hanks and Iris McNaughton Hanks.

Mr. Hanks was a heavy equipment operator for Brad Cole Construction and he served during peace time in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Hanks; children, Carla Noles of Whitesburg, Sandy Schmidt of Lithia Springs, Ricky Tipton of Blountstown, Fla., and Kathy Chapman of Clarksville, Fla.; sisters, Ailene Bolling of Montgomery, Ala., and Louise Snow of Akron, Ohio; brothers, Lewis Hanks, and Gary Hanks, both of Georgiana, Ala.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

In accordance with Mr. Hanks’ wishes his body was cremated. No services are scheduled at this time.
