The Chapel Hill volleyball team spilt a pair of matches on the road at South Paulding Thursday evening.

The Lady Panther fell to the host school in a close two set match, 23-25 and 20-25, but then rebounded for a straight set, 25-12 and 25-15, victory over Paulding County.

The opening match was against one of the toughest teams in the 2-AAA area but Chapel Hill put up a tremendous fight despite missing four starters.

Leading the team against the Lady Spartans was Ashleigh Champion, who recorded a season high 10 kills.

In the second match against the Lady Patriots of Paulding, Chapel Hill was able to push on for the victory behind the play of Daryl Mitchell and Emily Austin.

Mitchell served for nine straight points.

“They could not stop her,” said CHHS Head Coach Jeremy Anderson. “She gave the other girls a lot of confidence.”

Austin also played well as she made her first varsity start of the season.

Chapel Hill will finish up the regular season on Monday when they host New Manchester and Fayette County on Senior Night. The Area Playoffs will begin Thursday at Woodward Academy, starting at 5 p.m.
