In a matchup of former region foes, the Bowdon High School softball team held off Mt. Zion for a 5-4 win on Wednesday night.

The Red Devilettes (16-9, 6-0 Region 5-AA) went into the bottom of the seventh with a 5-2 lead before the Lady Eagles (14-10, 2-5 Region 6A-A) got a pair of runs back, in part thanks to a Jayde Bradley solo home run, but it wasn't enough.

For Bowdon, Jacole Stephens had a solo home run, while Ember Wood and Madison Runyan had two hits each.

The two teams will play valuable region games next, as MZ completes its regular season today at Christian Heritage at 5 p.m. and the Red Devilettes play Spencer on the road at 5:30 p.m. today.
