• Isn’t it hypocritical to always advocate cutting government waste but when it touches your voting precinct it suddenly does not matter? Plus it was a mistake to ever locate a public voting precinct inside a “Gated Community.” Come on Fairfield residents, you cannot keep having your cake and eating it too.

• Until the terrible traffic bottleneck at Carrollton Middle School is resolved, the widening of Ben Scott Boulevard is just the emperor’s new clothes.

• Any chance we’ll ever get a left-hand turn signal from the bypass turning south onto Old Newnan Road? I pray we’ll get one before someone is badly injured playing chicken!

• UWG Police Chief Thomas J. Mackel is wise in his comments about students carrying guns on college campuses. I believe Mr. Kevin Cooke may lack the maturity needed to propose useful legislation. That is the impression I got when I saw him in a forum when he was running for office.

No Chappell does not give a hoot about the shelter nor does Tim Tant. Do you know the how many of the animals that are euthanized every month? Do you know that most litters are euthanized within hours of being dropped off because the "look" like they might be sick. When was the last time you went to the shelter and saw all of the empty cages in the adoption area? Whyare they empty? Because they kil most of what comes in and don't haveanythin for adoption. The shelter is supposed to have open books. You can ask for the numbers yourself. I did this once and the kill rate was almost 3/4 of what came in.

And for Tommy Lee, running for District 3. No one knows your wife works as the Department of Human Reasources Director for CarrollCounty, Directly under the Chairman and reportsdirectly to the Chairman. How do you intend to keep your constituents in your best interest when you are in bed with someone as high up in the government as she is. Can anyone say "conflict of interest". Talk about the good ole boy network. Ashely has been a huge proponent of the shelter and needs to remain in office. Tommy Lee willfall in the same category of Tant and Chappell. Don't putTommy Lee in Office. Oh and has anyone seen where he discloses that his wife works for the Chairman? No, he doesn't want anyone to know. He is afraid that he won't get elected because we the people will see it for what it is worth....CONFLICT OF INTEREST.

Tim Tant is the best thing that ever happend to the animal shelter. Look at where that shelter is now as compared to where it was when he took over... And may I say that your tone against Mr Tant seems a little personal... I wonder why that is? What kind of proof do you have that he has ever abused any animal at the shelter? Egotist? Bully? Sounds alot like sour grapes to me. Tim Tant has saved more animals and has adopted out and helped more animals than he could ever hurt... He has even chipped and fixed many many animals at a discounted rate to try to help. I guess if there was a parvo outbreak there you would like to see the entire shelter closed? I can tell you from my own experience that they take every precaution to ensure that doesn't happen. So get your facts straight. Or prove them.

Why is the county commissioner, Bill Chappell allowing the animal shelter director, Tim Tant, to abuse animals and keep his personal dog at the shelter at the county's expense?

If there is a parvo outbreak, Tim wants to kill all the animals in the building instead of doing a quarantine.

It is time for Tim Tant to not be involved in the animal shelter. Carroll County residents, we are taxpayers and we should not allow an egotist bully to run our animal shelter. Too many animals will suffer or die.

He is not involved anymore. That changed recently. Now, the person in charge has no animal shelter experience, has never run a shelter, has never run a department. This was a political move by Chappell as usual to keep his tail out of hot water until he leaves office. The person who took over was offered a job because of a disagreement with the county that could have cost the county some money. So by making this person a county employee, they effectively took away the option for the person to sue the Chappell administration. I feel for the incoming Commission Chair. This will be the first Chappell political maneuver he will have to deal with. So we sit and watch the animals die and get sick for the next 90 days.
