Using a dominating first quarter, the Carrollton High School girls basketball team picked up a 59-38 home win against Rome on Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Trojans (3-0) jumped out to a 21-9 lead after one quarter and never looked back, holding Rome (4-5) to single-digit scoring in three of the four quarters. Carrollton went on to lead 34-17 at halftime and 51-26 after three quarters.

Senior guard Kenyata Hendrix did a little bit of everything with 27 points, six assists, five rebounds and five steals, while Alecia North scored 10 points and Brooklyn Emory and Tasmine Boykin scoring eight points each. Emory led the Lady Trojans with 12 rebounds.

Lady Trojan coach Shon Thomaston was also pleased with the play of sophomore point guard Faith Swint, who continues to show her ability to contribute this season. However, Carrollton will be without senior center Taylor Love, who went down with an injury on Saturday. The extent of the injury is unknown.

Up next for the Lady Trojans is a trip to Cedartown today at 6 p.m. Carrollton won the first meeting, 82-8, last week.
