Oliver Dennis Nixon of Norcross, formerly of Bremen, passed away Monday, September 10, 2012. He was born in Haralson County, December 5, 1953, son of the late Horace Lee Nixon and Mary Ellen Thornton Nixon.

Mr. Nixon was employed as a flight attendant for Delta Air Lines and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bremen.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Lee Nixon.

Survivors include a sister, Barbara Kean of Norcross; aunts, Ruth and Tom Kirby, Lithia Springs, Marion Schliestett of Duluth; a niece, Amy Nixon, San Diego, Calif.; great-nieces, Madison Wellman, Carly Wellman, both of San Diego, Calif.; cousins, Michael and Cheryl Nixon, Sugar Hill, Randy and Janett Nixon, Mallory Nixon and Chase Nixon, all of Marietta; Larry and Diane Kirby, Lithia Springs, Tina and Tim White, Powder Springs, Timothy and Lindsey White , Johns Creek, Stockton White of Johns Creek, Taylor White, Powder Springs, Rene and Randy Keese, Resaca, Nicole Keese, Marietta, Kristin and Chad Huffer of Woodstock, Steve and Christy Kirby and Anna Kirby of Hiram, Ryan Kirby, USMC, Van and Evie Schliestett, Amy Schliestett, Jennifer Schliestett, all of Suwanee, Lori Campbell, Duluth, Al Thornton, Douglasville, Mary Ann and Bill Dudley of Dunn, N.C., Billy and Annette Dudley and sons of San Juan, Puerto Rico, Gary and Candy Dudley, Thad and Linda Dudley and Caleb, Liam and Aiden Dudley, Zachary Dudley and Cayla and Kenny Waddell, all of Garner, N.C.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:30 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Services will be Thursday, September 13, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Hightower Funeral Home with Brother Herman Parker officiating. Michael Nixon, Randy Nixon, Matt Weedle, Troy Thorup, Al Thornton and Van Schliestett will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
