Oak Mountain Academy boys roll in opener

The Oak Mountain Academy boys basketball team opened up its 2012-13 campaign in a big way with a 91-42 win against Skipstone Academy on Tuesday night.

The Warriors (1-0) were led by Wade Mason’s 26-point effort, followed by Kelton Hunt (18), Colton Pollard (14) and Blake Mason (14), who also got in double-figures offensively.

The team is now off until Nov. 28 when it faces Praise Academy at Philips Arena at 2:30 p.m.

In other prep basketball action from Tuesday night:

OMA girls 52, Skipstone 29:
Led by Jessi Fuller, the Lady Warriors (1-0) got the year started with a win against Skipstone Academy.

Fuller scored 18 points in the victory, while Meredith Sammon added 12 points.

OMA will take on Praise Academy at 1 p.m. on Nov. 28 at Philips Arena in Atlanta.

Carrollton boys 71, Hardaway 56: In a tuneup before the regular season, the Trojans got a strong showing from their seniors, taking a 15-point win in Tuesday’s scrimmage against Hardaway.

Carrollton was led by senior Riley Criswell’s 22 points, while Byron McCall added 14 points from the inside. Javarious Jackson added 12, while Cooper Criswell scored 11.

The regular season will begin on Nov. 30 when the Trojans host Oxford, Ala.
