Ms. Murphy was born May 14, 1954 in Atlanta, the daughter of the late James Grady Knight Jr. and Rebecca Richardson Knight. She taught school for a number of years at Woodstock High School and Villa High School. She touched the lives of many young people and will be fondly remembered by all
who knew her.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Drew and Bonnie Godwin of Smyrna; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kelly and Josh Conner of Smyrna, Brook and Jason Gorman of Smyrna, Marley and Matt Jacobs of Minter, Ala.; four grandchildren, Beckett Conner, Charlie Jacobs, Brooklyn Gorman and Kennedy Conner; sister and brother-in-law; Ann and Fred O’Neal of Villa Rica; and sister-in-law, Kay Knight of Villa Rica; one brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Susan Knight of Indian Trail, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her beloved cat “Elmo.”
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Henry Knight.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, December 10, 2012, at 11 a.m. from West Hills Church in Villa Rica with pastor Tyler Brown officiating. Ms. Murphy’s son, Drew Godwin, will give the eulogy.
The family will receive friends at the J. Collins Funeral Home on Sunday, December 9, 2012, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Interment will follow the service in Meadowbrook Memory Gardens with Gary O’Neal, Eric O’Neal, Josh Conner, Jason Gorman, Joe Knight and Chris O’Neal serving as pallbearers.
