Nadine Bednar of Roopville passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, March 3, 2013, after fighting a lengthy battle with health issues.

She was born on March 14, 1936, in Heard County to the late J.B. Cunningham and Thelma Fincher Cunningham. She enjoyed a career as a floral designer for many years and was the former owner of Artistic Flower Shop in Bowdon, Ga. She was a skilled seamstress, an exceptional cook and enjoyed entertaining for others. She had many other passions such as square dancing, bowling and playing cards with her friends, as well as traveling with her cherished companion, James Windom.

Besides her parents, preceding her in death is her first husband, J. C. Maddox; second husband, John Bednar; and a brother, Hershel Cunningham.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Terry of Roopville; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Toni Maddox of Pine Mountain; daughter Tricia Berkman of Jupiter, Florida; sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Dennis Jorden of Heard County; sister, Donna Thompson of Myrtle Beach; brother, Hal Cunningham of Franklin; brother and sister-in-law, Glen and Linda Cunningham of North Carolina; brother, Bill Cunningham of Memphis, Tennessee; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Seeing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren always brought joy to her life as well.

During her last few months she had a very special caregiver, Judy Gilmore, and the team from Compassionate Companions for whom we are eternally grateful. She leaves behind many lifelong loved ones whom we ask to use the occasion of her passing to remember and celebrate her life.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at 2 p.m. from Martin and Hightower Heritage Chapel with Dr. Steven Peeple officiating. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Perpetual Help.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 5, 2013, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
