Marie Johnson Wingo of Bremen died Sunday, March 3, 2013, in a Rome hospital. She was born in Carroll County on March 9, 1930, daughter of the late James Johnson and Lula Mae Pitts Johnson.

Mrs. Wingo was a retired employee of the Bremen City Schools and a member of Harmony Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Doffis E. “Buck” Wingo in 2008.

Survivors include children, Denise and Charles Denney of Bremen, Kay and John Taylor of Gulf Breeze, Fla., Elaine Manglitz of Snellville, Stephen and Evelyn Wingo of Bremen; a sister, Ruth Mauk of Bremen; a brother, Alvin and Joan Johnson of Griffin; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, at the chapel of Hightower Funeral Home with the Rev. Anthony Puckett and Mr. Josh Denney officiating. Music will be furnished by Matt Seagle and Luke Budde. Bran Lovvorn, Andrew Lovvorn, Justin Manglitz, Josh Denney, Blake Wingo and Zachariah Wingo will serve as pallbearers. Burial will follow in Forst Lawn Memorial Park.
