The Carrollton Police Department has warrants out for the arrest of a man who shot at a crowd of people outside a restaurant over the weekend.

Witnesses said a man shot at the large crowd of people who had gathered outside the restaurant Sunday afternoon on South Park Street. Witnesses said the shots appeared random, police said.

One man, Tommy Thompson, was grazed in the right forearm by a bullet and was later taken by friends to Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton with minor injuries. Thompson, who was walking on crutches, was trying to get into the restaurant when the shooting began.

Sgt. Blake Hitchcock of the Criminal Investigation Division said there were issues involved among the people who had gathered.

"People weren't getting along," Hitchcock said. "And Thompson was an uninvolved person who paid the price."

Thompson was the only person injured, Hitchcock said.

Police plan to charge the suspect, identified as Steven Brown Jr., with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of Brown is urged to call police at 770-834-4451. Callers who wish to remain anonymous can call CrimeStoppers at 770-838-7867.
