A Carrollton man was killed Monday after the vehicle he was in crashed on New Hope Church Road shortly before 9 p.m.

Carroll County Fire and Rescue Deputy Chief Bud Benefield said when firefighters arrived to the single vehicle crash two people inside the vehicle had been ejected — including Jason Miles, 32, who was later pronounced dead at Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton from injuries sustained in the crash.

Authorities said a female occupant, whose name was not released, was airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta for treatment.

Robert Shellabarger described his brother in-law as a very outgoing family man who would attend church with his family in Coweta County. Shellabarger said Miles loved spending time with his two daughters, ages 5 and 12.

“Jason was a very kind-hearted person, good person and great father,” he said. “This is a very difficult time right now.”

Miles, who worked in pipe fitting, enjoyed working on cars and was an avid NASCAR racing fan.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Chapel of Rainwater Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Antioch Baptist Church in Carrollton.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the crash. At the time of publication, troopers could not be reached for comment.
