Mr. Johnny Hoyt Gentry of Bowdon, Georgia, passed away on January 10, 2013. He was 75.

Mr. Gentry was born on March 19, 1937, in Bowdon to the late J.C. and Percia Lee Caldwell Gentry. He was retired from the maintenance department at Southwire and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James Gentry; his sisters, Myrl Nolan and Novie Jordan; and his brothers-in-law, Haskel Kemp and Paul Abernathy.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Gentry; his children and their spouses, Gail Barrett and Dale and Betty Gentry, all of Bowdon, and Pam and Michael Norton of Draketown; his grandchildren, Amy Swofford and her husband, Shane, Ryan Driver and his wife, Maria, Brandy Carroll, Jason Gentry and Jennifer Norton; his great-grandchildren, Aidan Carroll, Alexia Norton, Kaleigh Norton, Brayden Swofford, Mayhayla Kassars and Brianna Driver; and his brothers and sisters and their spouses, Ima and Elmo Gravitt, Harvey and JoAnny Gentry, Pearl and Butch Henderson, Irene Abernathy and Willow Mae Kemp.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Corinth Baptist Church. Bro. Jamey Alexander and Bro. Darnell Teal will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jason Gentry, Steve Kemp, Jimmy Kemp, Justin Kemp, Danny Payne and Bobby Yarbrough. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Prior to the services, Mr. Gentry’s body will be placed in the church from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, January 11, 2013, from 4-7 p.m.
