John Melvyn Campbell, 71, of Newnan, passed away Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital. He was born in Atlanta on Dec. 22, 1940, to the late John B. and Lucille Leftwich Campbell.

He was a retired Civil engineer and served in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Campbell is survived by his wife, June Kelley Campbell of Newnan; children, John H. and Manda Campbell of Temple, Ga., and Marla R. Campbell of Duluth, Ga.; step-children, Paul and Leanne DeFoor of Temple, Ga., and David Eskew and Melissa Rabold of Newnan, Ga., Dan and Latisha Siggers of Bay Minette, Ala.; sisters, Marlene and Pete Sims of Litchfield Park, Ariz., and Martha Bradshaw of Oxford, Ga.; 14 grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and his faithful canine companion, Buster.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home. The Rev. Ken Norton will officiate. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Sept. 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home.
