Harvey Gene Radford, 73, of Villa Rica died Monday, February 25, 2013, in Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton.

He was born in Black Mountain, North Carolina, on February 10, 1940, the son of the late James Radford and the late Lissie Kilbe Radford.

He moved from North Carolina to this area about 45 years ago and had owned and operated Villa Rica Tire Company for the past 23 years. He was a member of the Lazer Creek Hunting Club and served as their president for 40 years and was an avid hunter. He was a faithful member of Grace Chapel Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Harvie Gene Radford Jr., four brothers and one sister.

Survivors include his wife, Janie Radford of Villa Rica; two sons, Russell Radford and Nicholas Buchanan, both of Villa Rica; one daughter, Barbie Yvonne Gant of Taylorsville, N.C.; one brother, David Radford of Hickory, N.C.; an uncle, Ralph Radford of Murphy, N.C.; six grandchildren, Russell Grayson Radford, Rebecca Radford, Rachel Radford, Eugene Gant, Leslie Gant and Harley Gant; one great-grandchild, Hunter Gant; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Celebration of life and going home services will be conducted Thursday morning, February 28, 2013, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of the J. Hoyt Thomas Funeral Home with Pastor Cecil Couch and Rev. Neal Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Villa Rica. Pallbearers will be Allen Broadwell, Terry Williams, Dorsey Ivey, Tim Smith, Danny Morrow and David Shipp. Members of the Lazer Creek Hunting Club will serve as an honorary group.
