Mr. Harry W. Slagle Jr. of Carrollton, Ga., died Friday, December 14, 2012, at the age of 58. Harry grew up in Phenix City, Ala., where he was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church. He played football for and graduated from Florida State University with an accounting degree. He was self-employed as a Master Carpenter. Of his many accomplishments he was an extraordinary father and Paw Paw.

Harry was born in Conway, S.C. to Wendell and Helen Slagle.

In addition to their death he was preceded in death by his wife, Debbie Slagle.

Harry is survived by his daughter, Missy Dockins, wife of Allen Dockins of Douglasville, Ga.; and a son, Ron Thaxton, husband of Jennifer Thaxton of Smiths Station, Ala. He is also survived by a sister, Sara Alexander, wife of Rocky Alexander of Franklin, Tenn.; and nephew, Andrew Alexander. He has five grandchildren that he loved with all his heart: Jable Alley, Lela Dockins, Austin Thaxton, Lane Thaxton and Macey Dockins. Harry was able to spend the last six years with a dear friend, Tammy Chadwick, whom he loved very much.

Services were held Sunday, December 16, 2012, at Lebanon Presbyterian Church, Buffalo, Ala., where he was laid to rest.
