Mr. Fichtner was preceded in death by his wife, Christa Luise Fichtner.
Survivors include daughters, Sigrid Scott (Jim) of Carrollton, Ga., and Monica Bell (Billy) of Huntsville, Ala.; grandchildren, Chris Scott, Kerri Jordan and Amanda Bell; and six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Maple Hill Cemetery.
