The Central Middle School softball team rallied with three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning for a dramatic, 5-4 victory over Carrollton in the championship game of the West Georgia Middle School League “Big School” playoffs on Tuesday.

Trailing 4-2 entering the bottom of the sixth, Central got things going with a one-out single by Mallory Jeter. After three consecutive walks made it a 4-3 game — scoring courtesy-runner Makenzie Jeter — Faith Bennett delivered the game-winning, two-run double, plating Jaycie Benefield and Hanna Rosser.

Emily Williams got the win in the circle, fanning seven. She also had an RBI single in the first inning to tie the game up at 1-all.

Carrollton scored two runs in the fourth inning to go up 3-1 before the Lady Lions (11-0) got a run back on an RBI fielder’s choice from Kayla Sales in the fifth. The Lady Trojans got another run in the top of the sixth, but Central answered with the three-run bottom of the frame.

Payton Grove and Logan North also had hits for the Lady Lions.
