Mrs. Gosdin was born on Dec. 18, 1926, to the late Mann and Fannie Mae Johnson Word. She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alews Gosdin; her daughters, Barbara Wiggins and Martha Jane Gosdin; her brothers, Alvin, Dillard and Ellis Word; and her grandchildren, Michelle Noles and Dent Nelson.
Survivors include her son, Donny Gosdin of Woodland, Ala.; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Terry Nelson of Graham, Ala.; grandchildren and their spouses, Joshua Gosdin, Dedra and Fulvio Cenciarelli, Michael Gosdin, Lee and Jennifer McKenzie, Alisha Gosdin, Pete and Amy Wiggins, Lyn and Craig Wiggins, Elesa Varnadore, and Terri and Adrian Stubbs; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. The Revs. Roy Wysner and Terry Eason will officiate. Pallbearers will be Lee McKenzie, Fulvio Cencirelli, Gabe Wiggins, Craig Wiggins, Pete Wiggins, and Joshua Gosdin. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Prior to the service, her body will be placed at the church from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour.
