B&B Trees might bill itself as the oldest Christmas tree farm in Douglas County except for one thing — it’s about a football field’s length over the line into Carroll County.
“We’ve been here about 20 years and we’re one of the oldest in the area,” said Jim Brittain, who operates the farm located on Flat Rock Road, the name Ephesus Church Road takes when it enters Carroll County. “We’ve been members of the Georgia Christmas Tree Association for the past 10 years.”
Brittain said families can come to the 20-acre farm and “choose and cut” their own trees. Offerings include Virginia Pine, Leland Cypress and Carolina Sapphire, all sold for $5 per foot, and Red Cedar, at $20 per tree.
“We have a good selection this year, with close to 250 to 300 trees ready to go,” he said.
He said the farm will be open daily until Dec. 18.
In addition to assistance with cutting the tree, Brittain said the farm provide free shaking to remove loose needles and help in loading the tree into or onto the car. Also available are nets for $2 and tree skirts, which can be used to wrap up the tree at the end of the season, for $1. Tree stands are sold for $20.
B&B Trees is listed on the Georgia Christmas Tree Association Web site, www.gacta.com. Its phone number is 770-942-5668.
