He was born in Paulding County on April 6, 1922, the son of the late Henry Doyal Hitchcock and the late Inez Bell Hitchcock. He lived his entire life in the Paulding and Carroll County area and was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He worked in the residential and commercial asphalt paving business for many years until his retirement several years ago.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby Hitchcock and George Cliett (Clyde) Hitchcock, and one sister, Avanell “Ivie” Hitchcock Crawley.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Edna Louise Hitchcock of Temple; his step-daughter, Phyllis Price and her husband, Thomas, of Carrollton; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 2 p.m. from the Beulahland Baptist Church Cemetery in Rockmart, Paulding County, with the Rev. Ricky Shirley officiating. Military honors and the flag presentation will be by the Honor Guard Team, American Legion Post 143, Carrollton. Burial will follow in the Beulahland Baptist Cemetery.
