The Wolves beat out other Division I all-girl teams from nine schools that also made the semifinals, with the top five making it to the finals. UWG beat out Morehead State, which placed second, Slippery Rock, Kutztown and Monmouth, which took third through fifth, respectively.
Also competing was the co-ed team that placed third behind Northwest Missouri State and University of Puerto Rico-Bayamon in Division II. The co-ed team is two years removed from its last national title in 2011 after finishing second last year.
In the partner stunt co-ed finals, West Georgia's Ashleigh Lamb and Trey Forsyth placed eighth out of 20 pairings.
The all-girl national championship was the second for head coach Nicole Wiltsie, who joined the staff in the summer of 2011.
Both teams earned paid bids to this year's UCA Nationals in Orlando and were judged based on a number of categories, including partner stunts, choreography and basket tosses, among others.
