Authorities arrested 12 people on drug charges at a Carrollton hotel Wednesday.

Two of the suspects were believed to have been selling drugs from a hotel room at the Holiday Inn, and the other 10 were charged with possession of drugs or attempting to purchase the drugs.

Carrollton police and the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office seized 21 grams of methamphetamine, worth a street value of about $2,300, four grams of marijuana, $3,488 in cash, a firearm and a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am.

Carroll County Sheriff Terry Langley said that while the amount of drugs seized Wednesday was not the largest the Sheriff’s Office has ever made, attacking drug sales at the street level is important.

“We get those that are selling it and those that are buying it, because if that demand wasn’t there they’d have nobody to sell it to,” he said.

Langley said a caller phoned in tips to both the Sheriff’s Office and Carrollton police around noon on Wednesday, saying there was possible drug activity being conducted in room 228 of the Holiday Inn on Cottage Hill Road in Carrollton. Langley said the room was registered to 22-year-old Lonnie Wilkins of Carrollton.

Officers went to the hotel early Wednesday afternoon and watched a number of people entering and exiting room 228 after staying only a few moments.

Langley said officers pulled over the suspects who visited room 228 one by one on the pretense of traffic violations, and that several individuals were arrested for possession of meth. Officers then executed a search warrant on room 228 and found Wilkins and 24-year-old Stephanie Keeton of Carrollton in the room, as well as the drugs and cash.

Wilkins and Keeton were both arrested and charged with possession of meth with intent to distribute and possession of drug-related objects. Additionally, Wilkins was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and Keeton was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. His car was seized.

After Wilkins and Keeton had been taken to the county jail, officers posed as the drug dealers. A number of additional suspects entered the hotel room over the next several hours and were arrested for attempting to purchase meth from the undercover officers.

Those arrested included Devin Adams, 24 of Carrollton; James Gregory Cross, 40, of Carrollton; Antritte Dobbs, 29, of Buchanan; Ronald Kidd, 60, of Carrollton; Stephanie Kilgore, 27, of Carrollton; Brandy McNeese, 28, of Buchanan; Martin Neese, 45, of Buchanan; John Park, 26, of Buchanan; Melissa Smith, 24, of Carrollton; Christopher Womack, 28, of Carrollton. More than 20 charges were levied against the 12 suspects arrested.
